We also have one of the top County Hospitals in the country where indigent people receive free medical care. Which reminds me... will my property taxes that help finance that hospital go down now that Obamacare is giving poor folks free insurance? prop taxes never go down,, but perhaps if perry took the increased expanded medicaid $$$ that was offered- maybe your taxes wouldn't go up... but alas you won't get to know that for at least a couple years & who knows- the next gov might have the more christian way of thinking & 'take care of the least of these' 'eh? a lot of talk comes outa texas, not so much the walk. Like I said, we provide excellent care for uninsured folks in Dallas. But you're right about one thing... taxes never go away. Which means most of us will be footing the bill for poor people twice. Gotta luv the logic in that truism.

If this is in Texas County TX does it treat all 670,000 uninsured residents for free every year providing them with annual physicals and seeing to all of their medical needs? If so I want to know the name of the hospital and how it can afford to do this. I don't know of any hospital in the nation that individually treats 670,000 patients annually for all of their medical needs.

Because then.....ALL those folks in Washington State and other states will be helping to pay for all the millions here in Texas who are uninsured because the federal gov't is NOT enforcing our borders!! That's one benefit; all of us property tax payers should get a break then....

She's probably referring to Parkland Hospital. They treat a lot of people free.....and not just in their main hospital, but in free and low-cost clinics across the county. And the residents of Dallas who own property pay for it with through their real estate taxes. And that includes free immunizations, Preventative Health Care, Sick care, Wellness Exams for children & Babies, Chronic Disease Mgt., Laboratory Services, HIV Screening, STD Counseling & Treatment, Health Education, Clinical Breast Exams, Screening Mammograms and Pap Smears.
There are other free or low-cost clinics across Dallas County as well......some subsidized through Charity organizations and churches.
Maybe it would pay for you all to look some things up and NOT simply rely on the hateful rhetoric of Obama.

Here's yet another free or low-cost Community Clinic in Dallas County. And just take a look at how many top-notch hospitals and organizations chip in and provide their services:
Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic’s decades of success can be attributed to working collaboratively.
LBUCC has close ties with a number of excellent local organizations providing a myriad of critical services for our patients including:
Parkland Health & Hospital System for patient referrals to specialists, infant deliveries and numerous special programs; Methodist Health System for infant deliveries; Dallas Metrocare Services with whom LBUCC is working on a number of shared services arrangements; University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center whose medical residents receive training in LBUCC’s Pediatric Department. Patients benefit from their care and that of UTSW faculty physicians; Children’s Medical Center for patient referrals to specialists and a special program centered on their high-risk asthma initiative; Family Care Connection and their volunteer Social Work professionals who provide patients with special classes and case management services; D/FW Area Health Education Center and their workforce development programs; and The Urban Inter-Tribal Center of Texas whose WIC program is managed by LBUCC.

The more I reread this story the less it relates to "Obamacare" and, based upon a recent reading of the grievance it doesn't even relate to the insurance policies being issued under "Obamacare" based upon the following statement from the original post.
The problem isn't with the insurance companies at all. The problem is that the University of California, San Diego, that has decided to only accept one of the "Covered California" insurance plans. This was a decision by the University and not by the insurance companies involved in the "Obamacare" health insurance exchanges. The insurance companies didn't "cut of" the woman, the University of California, San Diego has chosen on it's own to not accept the insurance.

I don't know of any hospital in the nation that individually treats 670,000 patients annually for all of their medical needs. YOU mean "Dallas County,TX"
She's probably referring to Parkland Hospital. My bad, yes I meant Dallas County TX.
Simple question again. Does Parkland Hospital (and/or the other medical providers listed) cover all of the 670,000 uninsured individuals in Dallas County TX for all of their medical needs?
We can even ask if the property taxes cover the expenses necessary for these medical services that conservatively would cost at least $2 billion/yr (@ $3000/person). Let's assume they do and then look at the effect of "Obamacare" on the property taxes of Dallas County TX.
I'll assume that Dallas County TX has the same percentages of those that will be covered under private insurance and Medicaid that the WA has calculated for our state. In WA a rough estimate is that about 1/3rd will qualify for Medicaid and 2/3rds will be covered by private insurance under the exchanges. Also of note in WA is that of the 1/3rd those being covered by Medicaid are being covered under the pre-expansion Medicaid provisions and not the expanded provisions.
So let's assume that everyone that is supposed to purchase private (subsidized) health insurance does so and that everyone that qualifies for the pre-expansion of Medicaid also signs up for Medicaid then the only people left for the Dallas County TX property owners to subsidize are those not covered under the expansion of Medicaid.
The only people that the Dallas County TX property owners are left to subsidize for health care are those that would be covered by the expansion of Medicaid or about 148,590 people for a cost of $445.8 million. That's over a $1.5 billion tax savings to the property owners of Dallas County TX.
If Texas was to accept the expansion of Medicaid then 100% of the people could be covered by either private insurance or Medicaid and that removes any tax obligation for the property owners in Dallas County TX to subsidize any of the 670,000 uninsured residents of the county. That's a theoretical tax reduction of about $2 billion a year for Dallas County TX property owners. Accepting the expansion of Medicaid doesn't even increase the Dallas County TX property owners federal taxes because the taxation necessary for the expansion of Medicaid is spread across all states regardless of whether they accept the expansion of Medicaid or not.
The only caveat is that if every State were to implement "Romneycare" as oppose to "Obamacare" and if Medicaid was 100% a State Program as opposed to a Federal/Sate partnership then it would cost a lot less than having the federal government involved. The problem is that historically only one State implemented "Romneycare" and none of the States are willing to replace the Federal/State Medicaid program with a State Medicaid program that is less expensive and it would require ALL of the States to do this.
