Not surprising as decisions made by the Board of Directors that are in the best interests of the enterprise are rarely reversed based upon a "president" of the enteprise that is two management levels below the Board (i.e. the CEO, COO, and CFO are above the president in a corporation). Of course the "individual insurance policies" being canceled are a very small part of Aetna's business and they're not very cost effective from an insurance perspective.
We can also note that unemployment and the 2008 Recession has resulted in far more of a loss of health insurance coverage than all of the privately held insurance policies combined. We might also note that because of federal subsidies a person is typically going to "pay less out of pocket" for their health insurance than they paid for their private policies. A large percentage of those that lose their private insurance will actually benefit by coverage on the isurance exchanges under "Obamacare" but few want to address that fact.
Of course with the federal subsidies also comes a need for higher taxation of the upper 50% of income earners that ultimatelly need to pay for Obamacare. The average person isn't "hurt" but high income individuals eventually might have to pony-up and carry the same tax burden that workers in America have to carry.

Thank God. It's about time we see some people with the "b's" to stand up to this Dictator who thinks he can write and re-write laws with the stroke of his pen. Obama has jerked the healthcare companies around many times during this fiasco....and it's about time they stand up to him. I applaud Aetna and believe we'll be seeing many more following suit. I certainly hope so.
Obama has been in WAY over his head since he got in to office and hasn't a clue what he's doing. Or maybe his goal really is to take down the country. Hopefully we can survive 3 more years of this B.S. before he does just that. That is how bad I think it is right now........unfortunately.

Well, it must be difficult for any normal capitalist politician to deal with the race-hate of Nazi madmen disguised as normal politicians.
