While not my "normal diet" I love the unusual and bazaar when it comes to music and no one was more unusual and bazaar when I grew up than Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. Here are some of my favorite Zappa songs.
CAUTION: SOME SONGS CONTAIN "OFFENSIVE" LANGUAGE (as if that isn't to be expected from Frank Zappa)
"Brown Shoes Don't Make It" is about a local corrupt politician that is having a sexual affair with a young teenager (who else would have written a song like this LOL).
"Eddie Can You Hear Me" is a song about Eddie Zachary that had a chain of discount men's clothing stores in the LA area in the 1960's. He plastered the late night TV shows with his commercials along with Cal Worthington that was a car dealership where Cal promised to "Eat a Bug" if you'd buy a car. We had strange TV commercials on late night TV in LA. LOL
"Billy the Mountian"...... I'll leave this one for those with twisted minds (as opposed to sick minds where it implies there might be a cure) to figure out. It represents the true genius of Frank Zappa's distorted sense of humor as well as a musical composition that I would challenge anyone to try and cover.
For the twisted people that made it through the above songs I close with two "famous" songs from Zappa and the Mothers of Invention if we assume that any of their songs were ever famous.
Frank Vincent Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993) R.I.P.

A bit of musical history.......
There was an annual poll in the United States where the best rock recording group and best touring group for the year is selected. It is, of course, an honor for any group to be selected as the best in either of these two categories and a special honor when the same group is selected for both which is what occurred for 1978. This has happened a few time historically but what was really unique about 1978 was that the group selected didn't release an album and the group didn't tour that year. And that group was.....

I know you won't understand the music, maybe I can find a translation and print it here, but this is by one of my favourite Afrikaans artists, about the negative impact of crime on reconciliation in SA and the Government's failure to do something about it.
I just live this music video.

Some classical South African music, this song made waves here, and became a hit in the US. It remains a great great song.

Self confessed Marillion nut .. not the pale shadow they became after Fish left but before.
Top five for me are as follows;
My screen name is taken from this song
Pretty much all other music, if I like it then the artist doesn't matter.

A mid-West band that had some limited success in the mid-1970's that I enjoy is Head East and this song.

And what would a good old-fashioned American rock-n-roller be doing at about 5:30 on a Sunday morning? Watching a John Wayne western with the sound off while blowing the walls down with some great classic rock, what else? LOL
This wonderful Sunday morning I've got the 1935 John Wayne movie 'The Desert Trail" on and I'm listening to a little Jethro Tull. I can't share the movie but I will share some songs.
While this thread is "non-political" it's impossible for me to listen to this song without thinking of my Tea Party friends.

One of my favorite answers to the question, "What is classical music" was "Anything recorded before 1978." LOL
Although not all classic rock is limited to just pre-1978 I'm a classic rock fan so of course I accept this answer as being true. From the archives.
A great live version...
The complete suite (long version) worth the listening....
A pair (warning: risqué images)....
Recorded live at the Fillmore East.....

We've all seen the lone street musician standing there with a hat to accept contributions from passerby's but little did this young girl anticipate what was to come when she dropped a single coin in his hat.
This has to be one of the most inspiring YouTube videos I've ever seen.
It is my understanding that the musicians were from the local philharmonic orchestra that just waited for someone to drop a donation into the hat. Obviously this was the best spent coin this young girl will ever make in her lifetime.

Sometimes it's just how music is created that inspires me. The creativity behind the "music" can sometimes be amazing.

Miriam Makeba was one sexy lady! I seem to recall her from earlier than 1967.
