This seems to me a worrying notion, and one that is being largely ignored by the world. We hear lots of talk about stability in the Middle East region, and the need to tread carefully there not, but we think very little about Central Asia and what could happen there (and what the results of it could be). The Middle East is important, of course, and we are generally much more familiar with it (because 'the West' has had so much involvement with it over the centuries), but the Central Asia region sits directly between two of the world's major superpowers, bordering both - instability there could have very serious implications indeed for world peace.
