Hello and welcome - good to see you here.
The usernames default to lower case automatically, but I've changed your 'display name' so it shows up with a capital when you post.
How's the karate going? Have they put you in charge yet?

Hello Shiva and Wyly, and hello there Admin. Karate is going well. Training six times a week, will get my next belt in the coming months, and while I am not in charge yet, I am eventually going to study to become a Sensei so I can teach a class.

Hello Shiva and Wyly, and hello there Admin. Karate is going well. Training six times a week, will get my next belt in the coming months, and while I am not in charge yet, I am eventually going to study to become a Sensei so I can teach a class. The only time I've been truly afraid in facing a person one-on-one was when the guy was a seventh-dan (7th degree black belt) in Taekwondo when he was a little bit drunk and being rowdy outside of a bar. Fortunately he was a "friend" that in previous months I'd established "respect" with in a "head-butting contest" where I knew that I couldn't beat him in a fight by I could drive my forehead through his in a head-butting competition. We only did that a few times but I hit him so hard it made his head ring. LOL
Anyway, long story short, my job was to convince him to leave because he was being rowdy so I confronted him with sincere concern that he might choose to fight as opposed to leave and I knew I'd lose the fight. I simply acted brave and told him, "Ted, you're out of line and need to leave." He simply smiled and said "Okay" and we laughed as I walked him to his car. Boy was I relieved!!!

Hey Mak! Great to see you. Yes, all of the "good" people are coming here. Already quite a few members in such a short period of time. NOT missing the other place at all.
Welcome aboard, JP5

I would have been a bit worried there, Shiva, but at least it worked out in the end! I couldn't imagine being a 7th Dan - in 30 years time, I'll see where I am, lol! At the moment I am getting secret info on the Sensei training so I can work on the things they do. I am not allowed to attend, or watch, so they let me know what they've been doing and I can go over it and show off to them the following week. Haha! Hey there JP, yeah I don't miss the other place at all, I haven't been there in about two weeks. I wish there was a button on this forum so you could click for new posts, instead of going forum to forum. Hey Sadanie, whats up?

I wish there was a button on this forum so you could click for new posts, instead of going forum to forum. There is. Towards the bottom of the page on the left hand side, in the 'Threads and Posts' part of the 'Forum Information & Statistics' box, there is a link saying 'Recent Posts', and another saying 'Recent Threads'. It isn't that prominent (you aren't the only one who hasn't spotted it, and it took me a while to notice it too!). This is the link it takes you to: worldpf.com/posts/recentAt the top of the forum there's also a box saying 'Participated' - you can click on that to see threads you've participated in, and if it says 'New' there there are new replies (and it shows which threads they are in the little box that comes up).

Since a couple of people have had trouble spotting the 'Recent Post' link now, I've added a link to it in the toolbar at the top.

I would have been a bit worried there, Shiva, but at least it worked out in the end! I couldn't imagine being a 7th Dan - in 30 years time, I'll see where I am, lol! I actually knew two 7th Dan black belts at the time. Ted, previously mentioned, was a rather rowdy person and intimidating to most people (and was that night with me but I did have friendship and mutual respect on my side) and then there was Lloyd that was a very mild mannered person. Let me share a story about Lloyd. One night the owner of the Shot of Gold (the local rock hangout where we went) went to Disneyland along with some of the staff including the bouncers and Lloyd was covering the door. Randy, the owner of the Shot of Gold, called to check-in about 11:00 pm and was informed that three bikers in "colors" had shown up wanting it. The night club didn't allow "colors" and Lloyd had blocked their entry. Randy, fearing for Lloyd, asked what happened. Well, two of the bikers were in the hospital and one was escorted off the premises by Lloyd when they tried to force their way in. I didn't see the altercation because I was inside but those that witnessed it said it lasted about 30 seconds. Lloyd, a slightly built person about 5'9" tall and mild mannered that wouldn't intimidate anyone based upon appearance, had taken all three of them down without being touched. I understand there were broken arms and broken ribs suffered by the bikers but that was hearsay from others. I only know that two were taken away in ambulances. It's hard for us common folk to understand how much physical power people at this level in the martial arts have. It obviously takes years of training and both Lloyd and Ted had started their training in their pre-teen years when martial arts in the US weren't even in vogue. This was actually around the time that Bruce Lee became well known and spurred the martial arts craze in the United States.

^yep. Lots of people seem to underestimate the power you have. Get the technique right and you can be a damned powerful person. My inside shuto and Haito are my strongest strikes:
I can easily beat my Sensei with my inside shuto, Haito not yet, but its still my second strongest strike.
I couldn't imagine being a 7th Dan, though - isn't Chuck Norris a 7th Dan?

I couldn't imagine being a 7th Dan, though - isn't Chuck Norris a 7th Dan? Chuck Norris is an 8th Degree and was the first Westerner to achieve this international rating. We can note that these are "formal" recognitions based upon "official training" regimens but many have actually stopped formal training and continued to advance in their martial arts skills. Who knows, for example, what Bruce Lee really was because he self-trained for many years outside of formal training regimens. All we know is that he was very, very good, probably at the master level. But then we don't know what some obscure monk that has trained for 50 years in martial arts in some remote monastery is capable of as they don't ever appear in public.
