With only one exception I don't see much coming from American conservatives these days.
The only thing I see coming from Republicans is condemnation of "All things Obama" and that is not a statement of principle or ideals.
So what are the political opinions and beliefs of Republicans/conservatives here. For example our tax codes are a mess so how do we fix that? How do we create fair taxation in America understanding that it must include not just federal taxation but also state taxation because the person pays both and it is the total taxation that affects the person.
I know that I have positions such as I believe that a CCW for carrying a concealed weapon should be honored across state lines under the Full Faith and Credit clause of Article IV of the Constitution. I believe many "conservatives" agree with this. At the same time if a CCW is to be honored across state lines then isn't it mandatory that a marriage license also be honored across state lines even if it's for a same-sex couple? How can a state honor a marriage license for an opposite-sex couple but not a same-sex couple? That makes no sense to me so perhaps a "social conservative" can say how this discrimination can be acceptable.
There are literally dozens of issues and the conservatives are not expressing any beliefs related to them. Its been all about "condemn Obama" and nothing about "this is what I believe" so I challenge Republicans/conservatives to state what they believe.

Return California, Colorando, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Texas to the Mexican Republic. Evacuate the Hawaiian Islands and restore an independent Hawaiian Monarchy. Transfer sovereignty over all of the states of the Eastern Seaboard to African Americans for their use as a separate country. The remaining states can become independent nations or apply for admission into the Canadian Confederation. Washinton, DC could become an amusement park. Partition of this sort can be accomplished without widespread violence as population transfers are made.

Liberals are the ones who sit around dreaming of what if.
Returning control of the WH and Congress to more saner heads is all that matters at this point.
Which means surviving the damage being done by Barack Obama.
Not much more anybody can say without joining liberals in fantasyland.

Returning control of the WH and Congress to more saner heads is all that matters at this point. The problem is that without some sort of definition the term "saner heads" has no real meaning. We look at Congress and people like Ted Cruz don't represent sanity. Cruz is on a one-man campaign to destroy the Republican Party's 2014 election hopes right now. John McCain and Mitt Romney certainly didn't represent sanity as the Republican Party would have been hard pressed to come up with worse presidential candidate. Obama didn't win elections because he was "good for American" but instead because he was the lesser of two evils in the eyes of most Americans.
But that is not what I wanted to address. JP5 on the thread addressing the House changing the SNAP program to cut about 10% of needy families suggested that federal funding to faith based and private charities was something that should be considered but the Republican's in the House didn't address cutting costs for SNAP by doing that. Personally I oppose faith based charity funding but would be very supportive of using private food banks for distribution of food for those in need. It would save a lot of money for the government while at the same time providing more food assistance to people in need by removing the "qualification" requirements for SNAP. Generally the only requirement a person needs to get food from a food bank is to be hungry enough to walk through the door. Not everyone can go to a food bank but if there was federal funding then the food banks would expand to cover greater areas.... and the government could save money.
What about balancing the US budget? Republicans haven't made any proposals that would balance the budget and don't seem interested in doing that. They have pie-in-the-sky dreams about it but nothing pragmatic. Got any suggestions that would balance the budget next year or in 2015 seeing how we're only days away from the 2014 budget going into effect?
