Rupert Murdoch's websites accidentally ran an advertisement that describes his newspapers as "crap".
The ad appeared on Thursday on the mobile phone websites of the Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, Courier Mail and news.com.au.
It was displayed prominently in nearly every top story during lunch-time – the peak period for online browsing – before being removed late in the afternoon.
Ummm.....oops! I can't say I support the idea of people paying for adverts to just attack other people and their publications, but the Murdoch press is notorious around the world for promoting his particular political agenda rather than actually reporting the news (and is certainly no stranger to attacking anything and everything else in any way that it can get away with), so I find it hard to be particularly sympathetic, to be honest!
A liberal’s disagreement with a socialist or social democrat comes down to this: we both seek equality, but the only equality a liberal thinks is worth striving for is an equality of freedom. A liberal’s disagreement with conservatives comes down to this: we both seek freedom, but a liberal believes no one can achieve it alone. There is such a thing as society, and government’s purpose is to shape a society in which individual freedom can flourish. (Michael Ignatieff)
