The film starring Naomi Watts is based on "gossip" and could be "hurtful" to William and Harry, according to Royal experts.
Producers of a new film about Princess Diana are bracing themselves for an angry backlash from audiences and critics.
The film, which has its world premiere in London's Leicester Square tonight, claims to shed light on her two-year romance with heart surgeon Hasnat Khan.
In a recent newspaper interview Mr Khan said he disapproved of the movie, which stars Naomi Watts as the Princess of Wales.
"It is based on gossip and Diana's friends talking about a relationship that they didn't know much about," he said.
"This includes some of my relatives who didn't know much about it either. It is all based on hypotheses and gossip."
It does seem like a pretty shabby thing to be doing - she may be dead, but the other main character in the film is not, and neither are her children. It seems to me like an unnecessary intrusion into very private things purely to exploit them for money.
A liberal’s disagreement with a socialist or social democrat comes down to this: we both seek equality, but the only equality a liberal thinks is worth striving for is an equality of freedom. A liberal’s disagreement with conservatives comes down to this: we both seek freedom, but a liberal believes no one can achieve it alone. There is such a thing as society, and government’s purpose is to shape a society in which individual freedom can flourish. (Michael Ignatieff)
