Okay.....here's a perfect example of why "taking care of people" and having so many on the taxpayer dole is SO WRONG.
You heard about the EBT card "glitch" the other day right??? They weren't working. So.....Walmart in Louisiana......being the extremely NICE company that it is, decided to announce they would honor them anyway....even though the cards weren't showing a balance. And guess what the hordes of takers did? They emptied the shelves of the two Wal-Mart stores within 1 day!! Emptied them.
When the balances came up on the cards later.....one woman was showing that she had .49cents on hers.....but had charged $700 worth of food/etc. from this very nice Wal Mart. Others did the same. What a bunch of losers! Sorry----but the taxpayers simply should NOT be in the business of supporting these criminals and low-lifes!

The "taxpayers" aren't going to be stuck with this bill, Walmart will be. Walmart can try to collect of course but that can sometimes come with more costs than what they can actually collect. Can't squeeze water out of a rock.

They shouldn't have honored the cards without knowing how much was on them. Come on, they let people with two trolleys full of food pass through the checkout. They knew they didn't have that much on their card but let them go anyway. They should have kept a limit - fifty bucks of food and that's it.
As for the greedy fat folk who loaded their carts and robbed those stores, they should be hunted down and made to pay back what they stole, and if that means having their welfare checks reduced for a time, so be it.

As was previously noted this was a Walmart decision, not a government decision, and the US government is not liable for the financial loss to Walmart. It is not a criminal offense but instead a civil matter between Walmart and the individuals involved. If Walmart chooses it can file a lawsuit against the individuals involved or it can simply take the financial loss.
While the story attempts to paint a picture of massive fraud by individuals I seriously doubt that is the case. It is anecdotal and while Walmart might have lost a few thousand dollars it probably isn't worth it to Walmart to address this in court with lawsuits against the individuals. I'd anticipate that Walmart will simply take the small loss in stride and not pursue that matter in court.

Actually, Walmart has stated they'd do it again. Walmart is ONE very humanitarian-type company. It's too bad the greedy liberals attack them all the time. Shame......
