The Federal government should NEVER be in the business of running the healthcare system for the entire country. Look at the picture in the link below to see what they look like printed out. More and more regulations on businesses AND individuals.......we're drowning here!!
(CNSNews.com) -- Bureaucracies in the Obama Administration have thus far published approximately 11,588,500 words of final Obamacare regulations, while there are only 381,517 words in the Obamacare law itself.

Democrats could have done it with a lot fewer words if they would have implemented a Single-Payer system. Would that have been preferable?

Oh sure they could have. They could also try to complete their installation of a dictatorship. BUT, that ain't gonna happen.

Democrats could have done it with a lot fewer words if they would have implemented a Single-Payer system. Would that have been preferable? Oh sure they could have. They could also try to complete their installation of a dictatorship. BUT, that ain't gonna happen. The "right" still doesn't get it. The American People like many of the key provisions to "Obamacare" and if "Obamacare" fails then the Democrats will be able to get a "single-payer" system imposed upon us. Their argument will be compelling. They will state, "We tried the 'conservative' proposal of using 'private' insurance companies and that failed so we need a single-payer system" and they will win that argument.
That's why I've stated the goal of the "Tea Party" should not be another attempt to defund it or delay it that is doomed. They need to focus on the problems, such as cost, and work to eliminate those in a responsible manner.
"Obamacare" has a lot of problems, such as imposing the taxation to fund it overwhelmingly on the 90% of working Americans that are already taxed too much. Instead the costs should be transferred to the top 5% of income earners that can afford to pay the taxes. They should focus on closing the loophole for business where they have no financial responsibility related to part time workers or if they have less than 50 full time workers. Enterprises that are "making money" off of the labor of others can afford to pay for the necessary benefits of the workers while a person working for someone else, that isn't profiting from the labor of others, can't afford to pay this taxation and shouldn't be required to.
Oh yes, "Obamacare" has many problems that the "Tea Party" and "Republicans" can responsibly address but attempts to defund it or delay it, assuming they might succeed, would only lead to a "single-payer" system to replace it and that is not moving the country in the right direction IMHO.
The only real choice is "Obamacare" or "Single-Payer" and I would suggest that fixing "Obamacare" is the best pragmatic solution.

There is a well argued op-ed piece that puts forward the proposition that by fighting against government funding and raising the debt ceiling that Republicans have probably blown any opportunity to defund or delay "Obamacare" in the future.
It is highly unlikely that House Republicans can put forward a bipartisan measure to delay or defund "Obamacare" before January 1st that would pass in the Senate. They're already tried 42 times to defund "Obamacare" based upon partisan legislation from the House and every time they've attempted this it's been shot down in the Senate.
As noted in the op-ed once January 1st arrives the issue changes from defunding or delaying "Obamacare" to one where Republicans are going to have to make an argument as to why millions of Americans should be stripped of insurance they already have and that is in effect for them because of "Obamacare" and I believe that is a losing argument. It's one thing to not give something to someone and a completely different matter to take something away from them.
I've repeatedly stated that if the Republicans want to do something that they either need to work on the problems with "Obamacare" where they can obtain the support of Democrats that also want to fix problems or they need to come out with a new proposal that is significantly better than "Obamacare" that the Democrats would support. Now the problem becomes that whatever the Republican proposal might be that it doesn't take away any health care/insurance benefits already provided for by the Affordable Care Act.
Today I believe that the only pragmatic option for the Republicans is to start working to fix problems with "Obamacare" from within the law as opposed to trying to defund, delay or replace it. Those days slipped away because of the fight over the budget and the national debt.

Obamacare was always meant to turn into a single payer....even though the claimed that it wasn't. It was always a Trojan Horse. Dems and Libertarians who support them and voted for Obama were lied to.....but don't care.
