A man in Taitung County, eastern Taiwan has tested positive for rabies after being bitten by a Formosan ferret-badger infected with the virus, a hospital in the county said Tuesday.
The man, a farmer in the county's Tungho Township, was bitten on the hand the previous night by the wild ferret-badger that intruded into his farm recently. The animal was found dead early Tuesday.
The 31-year-old underwent testing and treatment at Taitung Hospital, where the test results came back positive the next day.
