According to the most recent Gallup Poll the majority of Americans believe it's time for a third party in the United States.
Even among professed Republicans over 50% believe the Republican Party doesn't represent them and for Democrats 49% don't believe their party represents them. Among independents that number soars to 71% that don't believe the Democrats and Republicans represent their political beliefs.
I would suggest it's time for liberals, conservatives and "middle of the road" independents to check out the Libertarian Party which is the third largest political party in the United States. The Libertarian party is fiscally conservative and socially liberal which is what most Americans really support to begin with. As a card carrying Libertarian I do have disagreements with some of the Party's positions but overall it is far superior to either the Democratic or Republican Party.
PRINCETON, NJ -- Amid the government shutdown, 60% of Americans say the Democratic and Republicans parties do such a poor job of representing the American people that a third major party is needed. That is the highest Gallup has measured in the 10-year history of this question. A new low of 26% believe the two major parties adequately represent Americans.
