In no way would I suggest that other nations don't spy on the US. Hell, Israel has been spying on the US for decades and it's supposed to be an ally.
My problem is that the NSA is a rogue spying agency. Sen Feinstein that heads the Senate Intelligence Committee stated that the NSA never briefed her committee on this spying. The White House has stated that President Obama was completely unaware of this spying and when he learned of it this summer (because of the Snowden revelations) he put a stop to it. This spying apparently started in 2002 and, at least from where I'm sitting, I don't even believe that the Bush Administration knew about it. I can't imagine former President Bush authorizing it.
My problem is with the NSA that has a long history of "abuse of power" in conducting illegal and unconstitutional spying activities. I don't think it will ever submit to Congressional or Presidential control because it's demonstrated that it won't submit to this authority so often in the past. It's a completely rogue government spying agency that the only way to stop it is to abolish the agency completely.
